Frequently asked questions
Are the QR codes really free?
Yes. These are static QR codes generated entirely in your browser, so there is no account, no watermark, no scan limit and no expiry. The code you download keeps working forever and never redirects through a paid service.
Can anyone track who scans my QR code?
No. This tool creates static codes: the encoded content sits directly in the black-and-white pattern, so scanning it involves no server round-trip. Nobody — including us — can see how often it is scanned, or where and when. (If you encode a link, the destination website can still see visits, as with any link.)
Do you support dynamic QR codes that can be edited later?
Not in this version, and we say so honestly: dynamic codes require a third-party redirect service that decodes, logs and re-routes every scan. This generator is fully offline and privacy-friendly, so it only produces static codes. If you need to change the target later, regenerate and reprint the code.
What error correction level should I choose?
Error correction lets a damaged code stay scannable: L recovers about 7% damage, M 15%, Q 25% and H 30%. M is a solid default for screens. For print that may get scratched, dirty or partially covered — or if you place a logo in the middle — choose Q or H. Higher levels make the pattern denser.
What is the quiet zone and why does it matter?
The quiet zone is the blank margin around the code. Scanner apps use it to find the edges of the pattern, so keep at least 2 modules of margin (the default). A code printed edge-to-edge with no margin often refuses to scan.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG is a fixed-resolution bitmap — perfect for screens, slides and social media. SVG is vector graphics that stay perfectly sharp at any size, which makes it the right choice for print, laser engraving, cut vinyl or anything that will be scaled.
